The Fertility Check
Clarity about your fertility. In two appointments.
Many women only start thinking about their fertility once they have a concrete wish to have children. Yet it is worth looking into it much earlier. The Fertility Check shows you the current state of your egg reserve and hormone balance. It cannot replace a guarantee, but it gives you a solid basis for your planning.
Who is the Fertility Check useful for?
- You want to know how much time you likely have for your family planning.
- You are considering egg freezing and want a basis for your decision.
- Your cycle is irregular or has changed.
- There was early menopause in your family.
What we examine
Base programme — All values are determined from a single blood draw.
| Parameter | What it tells us |
|---|---|
| AMHAnti-Müllerian Hormone | The most important marker for the egg reserve. AMH is produced by the developing egg follicles. Its value allows conclusions about how many eggs can still mature. It says nothing about whether a pregnancy will occur, but rather how much time you are likely to have. |
| FSHFollicle-Stimulating Hormone | Controls the maturation of the eggs. An elevated value can indicate declining ovarian function or an early onset of menopause. |
| LHLuteinising Hormone | Triggers ovulation. Together with FSH, it provides information about whether the control between the brain and ovaries is functioning correctly. |
| Oestradiol | The most important oestrogen. It is mainly produced in the ovaries and changes over the course of the cycle. Low levels can indicate cycle disorders or reduced ovarian function. |
| Progesterone | The corpus luteum hormone. It rises after ovulation and prepares the uterine lining for implantation. The value helps us assess whether ovulation actually took place. |
| SHBG | A transport protein for sex hormones. It helps us correctly interpret the other hormone values. |
| TSH | The baseline value for thyroid function. Both an underactive and an overactive thyroid can noticeably affect fertility and are usually well treatable. |
Optional extensions — Depending on your situation, we supplement the base programme. We discuss this together with you beforehand.
| Parameter | What it tells us |
|---|---|
| Prolactin | An elevated value can suppress ovulation. A common and well-treatable cause of unfulfilled desire to have children. |
| Testosterone and DHEAS | Useful if PMOS (formerly PCOS) is suspected, with an irregular cycle, increased body hair or acne. |
| Vitamin D | A good vitamin D status is associated with better treatment outcomes and is easy to correct. |
| Ferritin | The iron storage value. A deficiency is common in women and affects energy, cycle and pregnancy course. |
| Vaginal ultrasound | Assessment of the uterus and ovaries as well as counting the antral follicles. The combination of AMH and ultrasound gives the most meaningful picture. |
When in the cycle?
We can determine AMH on any day of the cycle. For FSH, LH and oestradiol, the beginning of the cycle is most meaningful, ideally between the second and fifth cycle day. We determine progesterone about a week after the presumed ovulation. If you use hormonal contraception or do not have a regular cycle, we will find the right time together. Simply give us a call.
How it works
Book an appointment
Online via our booking portal or by phone. No referral is required.
Blood test
Once you have booked a short appointment, the blood sample takes only a few minutes.

Your results
You decide in which form you would like to receive your results. Both options are open to you.
Your results: the choice is yours
Option A: Written results report
You receive a clearly worded results report with all values, the corresponding reference ranges and a written assessment by our doctors. On request, we send you the report by post or by encrypted email.
Option B: Personal results consultation
In the results consultation, we take the time to go through your values together with you. We put the numbers into the context of your personal life situation, answer your questions and discuss which steps may make sense for you, from waiting to egg freezing to fertility treatment. At this appointment we can perform a vaginal ultrasound on request. The consultation takes place at our practice in Berlin-Mitte or via video call and lasts about 20 to 30 minutes.
Our recommendation
Values without context often cause more uncertainty than they help. We therefore recommend the personal results consultation, especially if your AMH is abnormal or you are considering egg freezing.
Costs and billing
- Base programme including blood draw and written results report: approx. €200
- Optional additional parameters: based on effort, we inform you in advance
- Vaginal ultrasound: approx. €96
- Personal results consultation: approx. €40
Billing is based on the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). The Fertility Check is a self-pay service; statutory health insurers usually do not cover the costs. Privately insured patients should submit the invoice to their insurer; reimbursement is possible but depends on the tariff. You will receive a written cost estimate from us in advance.
