When a fertility check makes sense – even without an acute wish to have children
Do I need an acute wish to have children to come for a fertility check? No. More and more women use a precautionary fertility check – and that is absolutely sensible.
What is examined?
- AMH level (Anti-Müllerian hormone): provides information about your egg reserve.
- Ultrasound of the ovaries: antral follicle count (AFC) – counts the available follicles.
- Hormone status: FSH, LH, oestradiol, thyroid values.
Who is it sensible for?
- Women from 28–30 who wish to postpone their family planning.
- Women with a family history (early menopause in the family).
- Women before social freezing.
- Women with endometriosis or PCOS.
What does it cost?
The AMH test costs approx. €50 as a self-pay service. A complete fertility check including ultrasound approx. €100 – 200.
