Self-Paying Patients

Costs for Self-Paying Patients

Self-paying patients are statutory health insurance patients who are unable to obtain cost coverage from their health insurance provider or private health insurance patients who are unable to obtain cost coverage from their health insurance provider.
For self-paying patients, all treatment is invoiced in accordance with the GOÄ (German physician fee scale). The invoicing process applies the individual service principle. A self-paying patient’s invoice can be slightly lower than that of a patient with private health insurance with confirmation of cost coverage. In Germany, fixed fees and the gifting of service are prohibited.
The treatment can be provided regardless of marital status and age.

“In accordance with current tax case law, fertility treatment for single women and same-sex couples WITHOUT medical indications is not considered a necessary medical treatment and the full VAT will be applied.”
